Renmin University Holds Forum for Deans from Chinese and European Law Schools

The second forum for deans from Chinese and European Law Schools was held at Renmin University from September 21 to 23, 2012. Opening speeches were given on the morning of September 21, 2012 by former Head of the Chinese Supreme People’s Court Xiao Yang, Head of the EU Delegation to China Carmen Cano de Lasala, Secretary of the Renmin University Party Committee Cheng Tianquan, Head of Berlin Humbolt University Faculty of Law Reinhard Singer, and Dean of Renmin University School of Law Han Dayuan. Speeches reviewed exchange and cooperation between Chinese and European law schools. The forum was attended by more than 60 deans, faculty heads and professors of European and Chinese law schools. The idea of holding a forum was first advocated by late jurist and educator Zeng Xianyi. The first forum was held on June 6, 2000.

CESL Co-dean Fang Liufang presented a paper entitled “Making Sense of China’s Experiment in Internationalizing Legal Education” and gave a speech at the forum on September 21, 2012.
