During his one week visit to China Hamburg’s First Mayor praised the role of the China-EU School of Law as central element of Chinese-European exchange in the academic field. “The success of the China-EU School of Law is an extraordinary example of European-Chinese Cooperation,” he said during the symposium “Shanghai DiaLAWgue – Building Legal Bridges for Chinese-European Business”. “The University of Hamburg coordinates on the European side a remarkable project which combines high level education, research and professional training in the legal field.” Scholz remarked in front of 60 selected representatives from politics, companies, international law firms and universities the intense Chinese-European cooperation between Hamburg and China.
The First Mayor visited Beijing and Shanghai with a delegation of 40 participants from 8 to 14 November 2015. Numerous talks intensified the cooperation between Hamburg and Shanghai.
Since 2008, the China-EU School of Law supported by the faculty of law of the University of Hamburg offers Chinese and European students and legal professionals a window to the other legal world. Nearly 800 students have already visited the master programmes. Over 6,000 Chinese judges, prosecutors, lawyers and civil servants were trained.
